Phoenix Defeats James Again…Ho Hum…
: November 10th, 2008
For the umpteenth time, WWE Women’s champion Beth Phoenix defeated former champ Mickie James after being forced to put her title on the line on RAW. And for the umpteenth time, Phoenix retained. So what is exciting about that? Surely the WWE would have known better than to put James up against Phoenix again right?
With a roster full of divas that are being paid to sit and perhaps watch the matches, a new face is needed to cause some interest in this division. In fact, if you base it from past weeks, a newbie watcher would hardly notice that there was a Women’s belt. The division has become boring and surely, the WWE must take heed of this warning. Do something about it. If not the championship, create a rivalry or something that can make the divas become more interesting to watch.
Also, it justifies the need to identify which divas must go and which should stay. Apparently you have two now that deserve to stay, Phoenix and James, but what about the rest? Some are injured for sure but big names like Candice Michelle are certainly being paid lucrative amounts for nothing. What gives?
Has all the attention shifted to SMACKDOWN? If you recall, SMACKDOWN was a virtual unknown before. Divas were there mainly as sidekicks and managers. But while the transfer and so called drafts aimed to balance, it looks like it tipped way too much on SMACKDOWN. They are gaining in ratings and for RAW, well you surely don’t want to know!
