True to the rumors, it seems Maria Kanellis is being pushed to be the next best thing in the WWE divas division. This time around, she finds herself battling diva sensation Natalya Neidhart, even getting current Divas Champion Michelle McCool into the fray. From all indications and based on how Maria performed, she is definitely a better technical wrestler prior to her Playboy stint.

But what is Maria really aiming for? Attention or Gold? If it is gold, then she may be fighting the wrong person. Michelle McCool has the gold and perhaps the best way for Maria to get a shot at it (assuming she is really interested in it) would be to convert to a heel wrestler, something that doesn’t seem to fit her diva personality.

So unless McCool loses that belt to perhaps Neidhart or even Victoria, Kanellis is not likely to become champion anytime soon. But with various pay-per-views coming up such as Unforgiven, maybe there will be a change of hands if there diva matches scheduled on the card. SummerSlam has just finished and nothing has changed as far as storylines on the SMACKDOWN brand is concerned.

Kanellis can pull it off but it seems that she still kind of ripe to be champion. Given time she will be. We have seen how McCool was hyped and placed into the limelight and the same trend seems to be unfolding for Maria. Give it one or two more pay-per-views and you will see the gold behind her waist.
