So What Else is New for the WWE Women’s Championship?
: December 17th, 2007
Call it being a hypocritical and mindless fan, but is there any wonder why Beth Phoenix still ended up the WWE Women’s Champion? Ho Hum. Think of it. Mickie James defeating the current WWE women’s champion? Get Real! Size alone provides a mismatch even if the storylines would alter the result. Second, the glamazon is obviously too much for the current roster of divas and not a single one has even come close towards wresting the title from her. So as far as the result at Armageddon is concerned, well, it was as expected.
Dominance is certainly one thing but to reign without challenge is another. This is not good for the WWE as it only shows that it has become a monopoly of sorts when it comes towards title reigns. No offense, but Beth Phoenix simply has not challengers worthy watching. Once upon a time there was in the mold of Candice Michelle. But ever since she suffered an injury, everything seemed to bomb out.
The catch here is not to purely wait for Candice to come out of injury. Perhaps the WWE can either develop one of their current stars or get some new blood into the divas roster. If they continue at this rate with one diva reigning supreme, well, it may as well erase the divas from its rosters. Perhaps just delegate them to become managers or sideshows. Harsh words but a reality. The WWE divas are simply being overlooked and is actually losing its luster.
