Many current wrestling fans may not know her, but Sensational Sherri Martel was one who epitomized what it means to actually wrestle in the world of WWE Divas. During her prime, she was among the dominant lady wrestlers that came unmatched. Rarely would anyone see in the early goings, lady wrestlers donning the usual tight and revealing outfits we see today. The language of wrestling today has been more inclined towards fashion and fantasies. Competing in the women’s division today has not been emphasized that much compared to Sherri Martel’s time.

Sherri was inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame at Wrestlemania 22. She is a chronic WWE Women’s champion that really had no real competition as far as her class of lady wrestlers were concerned. She later on became a manager for such wrestling greats as Ted Dibiase and Shawn Michaels. These were perhaps the highlights of her career as the shift of attention as far as diva wrestling was obviously being groomed for a different perspective already.

Regardless, Sherri will always be among the class of wrestlers that started it all. For the women’s division, she will always be someone that people looked up to for their careers to get into the right path. Sherri Martel may not be among the lady wrestlers who would battle it out on a bikini or lingerie match, but overall, she leaves behind a legacy that no other lady wrestler has yet to equal. Sherri will leave behind lots of memories, both as a wrestler and as an icon diva that started it all.
