It’s tough to get involved
: December 29th, 2006
It is never a secret that the wrestling life is not a great environment for families. The constant touring, the very limited time for vacations and the various temptations that one encounters on the road are just some of the factors that really put a serious strain on relationships. This is the reason why there is a high divorce rate among wrestlers.Of course, I am not saying that all of the marriages involving wrestlers fail. There are some that are actually making their own solutions in order to preserve their marriage and keep their union strong. …
Victoria’s gimmick “disconnectedâ€
: December 28th, 2006![]()
Victoria (Lisa Marie Varon) is one of the few remaining WWE Divas in the WWE roster that can be considered as a real women’s wrestler. With the retirement of both Trish Stratus and Lita, this only leaves her and Mickie James as the real wrestlers. In fairness though, the other Divas are doing their best to really hone their own wrestling skills.
With Victoria being groomed once again as the top female heel I am reminded of the previous times that she has used the gimmick that she is doing now – which is having a questionable …
Terri Runnels does not like to wrestle
: December 25th, 2006![]()
Most female talents of the WWE who eventually became identified as WWE Divas would always do one thing the moment they are hired – train to become professional wrestlers. From the WWE Diva Search winners to even fresh hires these women will immediately look for trainers or, as Candice Michelle did, enroll and train in a wrestling “school†in order to develop and hone their wrestling skills. These women believe that by developing their skills it would lead to more years in the company and the management can push them without fear that they may not …
Carmella had implants?
: December 21st, 2006
One thing that I have never discussed in any of my blog entries about the WWE divas both past and present is the issue of breast augmentation. We all know that in a male dominated spectator entertainment sport, women are considered as both a come on for male fans to buy tickets and watch shows. They are also the eye candy that make men feel good. Of course, it is a given that the women in wrestling, and this includes the WWE divas, all have in some way or another conform to an image that men …
Backstage politics
: December 19th, 2006Stephanie McMahon is probably the most powerful person in the WWE and second only to her father. She exerts a lot of influence with her position as the Senior Vice President for Creative Writing. By handling the writers and the think tanks who come up with the different gimmicks and story lines for the WWE wrestlers, she can basically control and have a say as to how much exposure a wrestler or WWE Diva should get, which has a great impact on their careers.Because of the power she wields, Stephanie commands a lot of respect from …
Chyna bounces back
: December 15th, 2006
When Chyna (Joanie Laurer) quit from the WWE many wrestling fans were saddened. Chyna was a dominant fixture in the women’s division and is also a formidable opponent even in the men’s division. She is one of the most charismatic wrestlers ever to appear in the ring and her presence was a big help to the WWE.Unfortunately, Chyna’s decision to leave the WWE did not necessarily result in better opportunities for her. Even though she appeared in a number of TV shows but it never really resulted in any big breaks acting wise.
She did wrestle in …
The rumor about the reason for Christy’s departure from the WWE
: December 13th, 2006
Former WWE Diva and winner of the WWE Diva Search Christy Hemme was one of the most popular Divas during her time. She came in right before Candice Michelle exploded into the scene so for a time she was one of the top draws among the female wrestlers. But suddenly, she stopped appearing in any of the telecast shows in Raw. As a WWE fan who only watches the shows on TV, it took me a few weeks to realize that Christy was not appearing in any of the episodes anymore. A quick check at the official …
Beth Phoenix
: December 9th, 2006
If you guys will remember – during the time when Mickie first held the Women’s Championship belt and Trish was trying wrest it from her, Trish introduced a new Diva when she went into the ring as part of her “surprise†for Mickie James – that wrestler was Beth Phoenix. That particular storyline centered around Beth having a secret about Mickie and that she was out to get revenge on her. Unfortunately, that storyline was cut short because Beth Phoenix suffered an injury a couple of weeks after her debut, which is a shame really because Beth …
Why Lita Retired
: December 5th, 2006![]()
In all of my previous posts regarding Lita, I have discussed almost everything that surrounded her retirement – the match, the factors within the match itself, even her thoughts after her match with Mickie James. But one thing that I forgot to talk about may be the most important topic of all – the reasons why she decided to retire.According to Lita herself the precipitating factor for her decisions lied squarely in the personal issues that she became involved in during the middle part of 2005. This particular problem involved both Edge and her then boyfriend …
Lita’s post retirement thoughts
: December 1st, 2006![]()
In my last blog entry I mentioned that Lita had a great match versus Mickie James — her last match for the WWE and as a wrestler as she has announced that she is already retiring. Lita lost the Women’s Championship belt to Mickie in what many say is not a nice send off for a wrestler that has done so much for women’s wrestling – and it looks like Lita also shares the same sentiments.
In her MySpace blog, Lita was able to truly express what she felt about her last match. Lita said that …
